The Bucks County Book Festival is Saturday October 12 and Sunday October 13, 2019.
Renowned as the home of James Michener, Pearl Buck, and Margaret Mead, there is no better setting than Bucks County, Pennsylvania for an annual celebration of the art of writing, the joy of reading, and the coming together of well-known authors and their eager devotees.
The Bucks County Book Festival takes place in various locations (most within easy walking distance of each other), primarily in the downtown area of the Borough of DOYLESTOWN, PA.
Doylestown is located 30 miles north of Philadelphia, and 80 miles southwest of New York City.

ARE INDIE & SELF-PUBLISHED AUTHORS INCLUDED?
The Bucks County Book Festival features professionally-published authors and illustrators. At the Hamilton Street location on Sunday Oct. 13, 11:30 AM - 5:00 PM, vendor spaces are reserved for independent and self-published authors, sellers of book-related merchandise, and non-profit organizations. The Bucks County Book Festival is co-chaired by Elle Green and Colleen Dunn, with Glenda Childs serving as author liaison. The Festival is partnered with DISCOVER DOYLESTOWN, and is fueled by the leadership and support of many talented volunteers. Meet our leadership team HERE.
HOW IS THE FESTIVAL FUNDED?
The Bucks County Book Festival is a non-profit event operating in partnership with DISCOVER DOYLESTOWN. It is completely volunteer-led and funded solely by donations from a wide range of Bucks County businesses, organizations, and individuals. Please see our awesome SPONSORS. The concept for a book festival in Bucks County was sparked by Elle Green, who moved to Doylestown in 2017. From Green's previous experience at the Texas Book Festival in Austin - one of the largest events of its kind in the U.S. - she believed a book festival would be an exciting addition to the cultural experience of living in Bucks County. To develop the idea, she joined forces with Glenda Childs, owner of the Doylestown Bookshop and Lahaska Bookshop, and Colleen Dunn, a faculty member at Bucks County Community College.
The trio determined Doylestown - the county seat of Bucks County - would be the perfect setting for a large regional book festival designed to enrich the cultural life of the community. Mission and vision statements and goals were developed, and Discover Doylestown joined the effort in early 2018, providing nonprofit status and the support of an established community organization. As word spread, volunteers were enlisted to fill key leadership roles, and over 200 local residents signed on to volunteer at the event.
Coordination with the Borough of Doylestown, the Doylestown Volunteer Fire Company, and the human, material, and financial support of numerous community organizations, nonprofits, businesses, and individuals combined to make the Bucks County Book Festival a reality.
The inaugural Bucks County Book Festival was held October 13 & 14, 2018. 52 professionally-published authors were featured, with over 2,100 book lovers of all ages attending workshops, author events and book-signings, panel discussions, and a keynote event.
The Bucks County Book Festival celebrates literacy, sparks imagination, and inspires people of all ages by connecting authors and readers.
